Placing Migration: the challenge of belonging in a precarious World
Our world is fundamentally shaped by migration. We see this clearly at times of rapid change, like the rising numbers of people seeking refuge in Europe from 2013 onwards. But outside these periods of crisis, migration still continues. People keep moving: searching for new horizons, and looking for new places to belong.

Career Conversations with Geography MU Alumni
This event will involve a presentation and break-out groups covering various career strands, depending on the attendees on the day. Alumni will just be asked to share how their geography degree contributes to the work they do now and to give general advice on how to develop a career in that field.

Leonard Cohen is much celebrated as a musician and a poet. In this lecture, Professor Philipp Rosemann will explore the rich philosophy in the music of Leonard Cohen through the lens of 'Steer Your Way', from Cohen's 2016 album You Want It Darker.

Inaugural Professorial Lecture Series: 'Ireland: No Country for Women?'
The Inaugural Lecture of Professor Linda Connolly, Director of the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute, will pose questions on the state’s treatment of women past and present; the referendum to repeal the 8th Amendment; and the forthcoming referendum on women in the home – all set against this year’s centenary of the vote for women.
