Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Research Call 2023

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Research Call 2023 will open next week.

 There will be up to €16 million funding available, with some notable changes to the call this year.

 The main features of the EPA Research Call 2023 are as follows:

- It is a hybrid call with opportunities to apply under open and targeted research areas (designated Themes and Topics)
- 5 broad Themes will fund 4-year projects in the following areas:

  • Addressing the Societal Dimension of Environmental Challenges
  • Harnessing Data and Digitalisation for the Environment
  • Nature Based Solutions: Delivering Co-benefits for the Environment and Society
  • Advancing Climate Science for Ireland
  • Climate Adaptation: Planning for an Uncertain Future

- The call will also include 22 targeted Topics to address identified research and evidence needs for policy.
- All funded projects will receive proactive support from the EPA to transfer knowledge to policy and to deliver impact.
- Interdisciplinary teams are strongly encouraged and particularly including AHSS researchers.
