ToggleNew Perspectives Postgraduate Symposium in the Humanities (NPPSH)
Starting in October 2016, NPPSH has become an annual conference held at Maynooth University. New Perspectives aims to be a unique, national hub for innovative research and learning that is currently taking place in the humanities globally. In recent years, support for the humanities has dwindled; as such, this conference aims to make humanities research relevant to a broader audience and to highlight its impact beyond the confines of the university classroom.
Designed by postgraduate students, for postgraduate students, this conference will showcase the diverse range of research and outreach being carried out by humanities scholars in Ireland and abroad. NPPSH will highlight how these scholars are looking to the past to inform the present and future and delving into the discourses that construct gender, race, sexuality, and class. It will note how scholars are decoding the images that surround us—to understand and use the language necessary to navigate a complex and rapidly shifting world, while also looking at the new avenues of research afforded by technology in the field of digital humanities. In particular, the conference intends to promote interdisciplinarity between researchers in the humanities.
