    Pioneering MU DNA computing project awarded €4m in EU funding

    MU computer scientist Prof Damien Woods has been awarded €4 million in funding under the European Innovation Council Pathfinder Challenge programme, with his proposal for a DNA-based computing and information storage system.

    Extreme temperatures becoming more common in Ireland -- MU study

    A temperature event of 33 degrees Celsius in Dublin’s Phoenix Park has gone from being a 1 in 180-year event in 1942 to a 1 in 9-year event in 2020, according to a new study led by Maynooth University.

    Human-induced climate change made the extreme two-day rainfall event associated with flooding in Midleton, County Cork last October “more likely and more intense”, according to a new study involving researchers from the ICARUS Climate Research Centre in Maynooth University.
