We hope you will join us in welcoming Emeritus Professor Charles Nash to give his seminar on

Why dimers are important in mathematics as well as in physics

Dimers are of central importance in statistical physics. This talk will consider dimers in statistical physics but will also show their direct relevance to older mathematics such as Hilbert's 16th problem, and to more modern  mathematics such as K-theory.
