Biography

Aodhdín Casey is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.  Her professional practice experience ranges from small (for the duration of her articles) to Big 4 (KPMG post qualification).  She also has extensive (industry) experience in an Irish subsidiary of a large multi-national software provider. Aodhdín was responsible for all Irish trading entities in a controller capacity, with statutory roles including Director and Company Secretary for all Irish entities. She joined Maynooth as a lecturer in 2008 while continuing to work in industry and lectures in management accounting, financial accounting and financial management. Since becoming a full-time member of staff in Maynooth University she has pursued her research interest in the changing nature of service provision within accountancy practices. Aodhdín is currently undertaking her PhD at Dublin City University, under the supervision of Dr Ruth Mattimoe and Dr Bríd Murphy (DCU), and Prof Joan Ballantine (Ulster University).

Research Interests

Aodhdín is interested in the changing nature of service provision in accountancy firms. In particular, how firms are dealing with ongoing disruption and adaptation in response to advances in technology and regulation, together with changes in client behaviour and in the nature of competition. Aodhdín is currently undertaking her PhD at Dublin City University, under the supervision of Dr Ruth Mattimoe and Dr Bríd Murphy (DCU), and Prof Joan Ballantine (Ulster University).

Transition Year Video Competition Civic Society Transition Year Video Competition (2020 to date) Building on the relationship established with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland and our feeder schools, while maintaining Maynooth University's tradition of connecting with second level students, Aodhdín conceived and received approval to run an intra-school video competition for transition year students. The competition which has become an annual event, is run in collaboration with the Maynooth University’s Admissions Department.
Junior Certificate Business Studies Awards Civic Society Junior Certificate Business Studies Awards (2015 to 2020) Aodhdín's proposal to run the event, received University approval in 2015. The intra-department (Law, Economics and Admissions) collaboration, in association with Business Teachers Association of Ireland, celebrates contribution to teaching and promotion of excellence in Business Studies.
