The key reason for this change is that we want to have a strong and recognisable identity.
At present we are known as “Maynooth”, “ Maynooth University,” “NUIM”, “Maynooth College” and formally as “National University of Ireland Maynooth”.
When we introduce ourselves to people from other countries, or outside our sector, the formal name is too long, and the short names are unclear. We want to build a strong reputation associated with a clear and recognisable name which clearly says who we are, and that we are a university.
