Our 20 credit Certificate in Irish Cultural Heritage is open to all International Students (and those not currently studying at MU) and individual Modules can be taken by those who would like a taste of Irish Culture. Students coming to Maynooth via Study Abroad or Erasmus programmes can register for Irish Cultural Heritage modules as part of those processes.
Interdisciplinary teaching is a feature of our modules and all are taught through the medium of English by academic experts in these areas. Lectures are accompanied by an exciting suite of Field Seminars that bring students to some of the most iconic archaeological and historical sites including the Boyne Valley, the Hill of Tara and monastic site of Glendalough. Another aspect of the learning process is independent study involving visits to other Heritage sites and Cultural institutions like the National Museum of Ireland.
Our modules are assessed by way of continuous assessment with no university scheduled examinations.
International students who wish to take the Certificate but who are not on a Study Abroad or Erasmus programme are welcome to take this course. The fee for Non-EU students taking the Certificate on a standalone basis is €3,750. Most international students will need a VISA to live and study in Ireland. Note that the Certificate in Irish Cultural Heritage is not on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP) provided by the Department of Justice, Home Affairs & Migration and therefore cannot be used to obtain a student VISA. All students are advised to check their VISA requirements before applying. See here for more information: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/
