
Dr Sinéad Ring presented her research on redress for non-recent child sexual abuse to the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers at the Marriott Hotel Marble Arch in London in June.
Dr Ring was one of ten invited speakers at this conference which was organised by APIL together with the Association of Child Abuse Law. The delegates were all practising solicitors and barristers from across the UK working on child abuse. Other speakers included Kim Bond from the National Association for People Abused in Childhood and Professor Eamon McCrory Professor of Developmental Neuroscience at UCL, London. Dr Ring presented on the Irish experience of redress for childhood abuse and offered reflections and practical suggestions on how the design of the redress scheme which is to be established following on from a recommendation of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.
