Maynooth University recently celebrated the achievements of its educators and professional services staff at the 2024 Staff Recognition Awards. The event, led by Professor Eeva Leinonen, President of Maynooth University, acknowledged the outstanding work of Maynooth University staff in the fields of Teaching, Public Engagement, and Service Excellence and Innovation.
We are delighted to congratulate colleagues in the Faculty of Science and Engineering who received an award:
Dr. Peter Mooney, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, received the Mid to Late Career Award in the Teaching category, while the Team Award went to the Maths Support Centre. Accepting the award on behalf of the Maths Support Centre was Pádhraic O'Hanrahan, Dr. Ciarán Mac an Bhaird, and Peter Mulligan.
The Public Engagement Award was presented to the STEM Passport for Inclusion team, comprising Dr. Katriona O'Sullivan, Isabel Meza Silva, Megan Griffin, Kalyn Potter, and Christine Collins.
Several individuals and teams were recognized in the Service Excellence & Innovation Awards category. Deirdre Daly from the Department of Biology was acknowledged for Living the MU Values. The Department of Biology School Outreach Team, including Patricia McDonnell, Deirdre Daly, and Dr. Noreen Curran, received an award for Leadership in Supporting the University’s Strategic Plan. Gillian O’Meara, also from the Department of Biology, was honoured for Service Innovation. Additionally, the ‘Service Innovation: Project Team’ award went to Linda Dunna and Hayley Ní Bhriain-Quinn for their work on the First Year Students’ Lab Timetable project; a collaboration between the Timetabling Office and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Finally, special recognition was given to Dr. Créidhe O'Sullivan, Dr. Ian McAuley, and Dr. Thomas Lysaght for their 25 years of service to Maynooth University.
