Modern Foreign Languages Student Teacher Exchange

Wednesday, January 28, 2015 - 00:00

For the second year running, Maynooth University Department of Education is delighted to join forces with the Université d’Orléans to facilitate exchange visits between student teachers of modern foreign languages from the two universities. This exciting collaboration between Dr Céline Healy and Mme Pascale Catoire enables our modern foreign languages student teachers to gain experience of post primary education and initial teacher education in another country. Working with one another the student teachers engage in collaborative language lesson planning, team teaching and lesson observation in Ireland and in France.  The exchange offers an invaluable opportunity for student teachers to develop their collaborative skills, their intercultural competence and their language skills while forging links with colleagues abroad. The French student teachers are here during the month of January and are team teaching in Scoil Mhuire Clane, Clongowes Wood College, Maryfield College, Ard Scoil Rís Griffith Avenue and Mount Temple Comprehensive. Student teachers from Maynooth University will attend university lectures and work in schools in Orléans in February.
