In July 2014 a group of staff and students from Maynooth University were invited to attend a summer camp organised by the University of Sichuan located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. Chinese Studies students from first and third year attended the camp and took part in language and culture classes for the two week long trip. Students were also taken on excursions to local museums, the panda zoo and ancient monuments and temples. Dr. Arnd Witte from the School of Modern Languages Literatures and Cultures at Maynooth University escorted the students and gave lectures to Chinese students at the camp. Dr. Michael Dunne from Maynooth University Philosophy Department also attended.
