International Development

Why study International Development

Studying International Development  provides students with a critical understanding of development theory and policy, institutions and practice, with practical competencies in development programme planning and management, a grounding in the ethical issues associated with development practice, and an opportunity to develop primary research skills.

International Development at Maynooth University focuses, in particular, on the countries of the Global South, Africa, Asia and Latin America, and the opportunities and challenges they face. Issues such as globalisation, climate change, food security, inequality, conflict, human rights, health, education, gender and empowerment are analysed from an international development perspective.
