Dr Emad Iranmanesh

About

Education:
Dr. Emad received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2020 through a joint program between Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He was recognized as one of the top-tier Ph.D. graduates in the SYSU-CMU cohort. Following his Ph.D., he joined Peking University as a postdoctoral fellow in 2020, where he was selected for the prestigious Guangdong Province Talented Program. He later joined the Guangdong-Technion Institute of Technology as a faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Program. Dr. Emad joined Maynooth University (Maynooth International Engineering College) as an Assistant Professor, where he continues to advance innovative research while contributing to international academic development and interdisciplinary education.
 
Teaching:
Dr. Emad has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses primarily in Electrical Engineering. His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Electronic Circuits, Sensors and Systems, Microelectronics, Micro/Nano Fabrication, MEMS/NEMS, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, and Basics of Electrical Engineering. He is passionate about fostering hands-on learning and mentoring students in project-based research and innovation.
 
Research:
Dr. Emad’s research interests lie at the intersection of micro/nano fabrication, wearable electronics, energy harvesting, and advanced sensors/biosensors. His work emphasizes the development of novel device architectures and the exploration of their underlying physical mechanisms for next-generation electronic applications. He has published in several high-impact journals and conferences, including Nature Communications, Nature Microsystems & Nanoengineering, IEEE Electron Device Letters, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, and the prestigious IEEE International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM – Device Olympics)
 
He actively serves as a reviewer for top-tier journals such as Nature Discover Electronics, iScience, Applied Physics Letters, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, and IEEE Open Journal on Immersive Displays. Dr. Emad has secured multiple grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), totaling over 3 million RMB. 
 
From an industry perspective, he maintains active collaborations with leading global and national companies, including Corning Inc. (USA), Huawei, and Desay SV (China’s largest automotive electronics company). His research collaboration with Corning USA has been funded since 2023. The total industry funding secured from these partnerships has reached $500,000 USD. He holds five granted international and Chinese patents, with four additional applications under review. In parallel, he maintains strong academic collaborations with top-tier universities such as the University of Cambridge, Peking University, and Sun Yat-sen University, contributing to joint research initiatives and scholarly exchange.
