MAYNOOTH SOCIAL JUSTICE WEEK 2023 - SOLIDARITY

Social Justice Week in Maynooth University is an annual collaborative project between students, staff, as well as other agencies aimed at raising awareness of global and national challenges, promoting social justice and challenging individuals to make a positive difference in the world around them.

The theme of this year’s Week is Solidarity. The committee feel the importance of this theme this year as we collectively face so many social and environmental challenges and in the tradition of social justice week call us all to action in solidarity with each other and for the struggles of others.

As you will see from this programme, the events this year highlight and address a wide array of social inequalities and concerns nationally and globally including racism, climate justice, rising energy costs, the housing and accommodation crisis, conflict, forced migration, the struggle for women’s rights and more. As in previous years, we see social justice themes across the faculties and the university in teaching and other core business, the programme show cases some of this work.

This year’s Social Justice Week coincides with Green Week  and Seachtain na Gaeilge and we encourage colleagues and friends to support events across the programme.

The Social Justice Week Committee 2023 would like to thank the organisers of all events in the programme. Thanks also to the event contributors and speakers, within the University community and beyond. The Chair of the Social Justice Week Committee would like to thank all of the Committee members for their commitment and work on Social Justice Week 2023.

With best wishes,
