Maynooth University congratulates Peter Higgs and François Englert on Nobel Prize in Physics
Maynooth University today congratulated Peter Higgs and François Englert on their Nobel Prize in Physics, which was awarded today "for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider".

Honorary Doctorate awarded to Professor George Huxley, Adjunct Professor in Ancient Classics
Professor George Huxley, Adjunct Professor to the Department of Ancient Classics and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Literature (DLitt) from the National University of Ireland Maynooth at a conferring ceremony on 25 June 2013.

ICARUS Launch Four National Studies on Climate Change
This week the Environmental Protection Agency launched four ICARUS-led national reports that fill critical knowledge gaps and add to both national and international understanding on the detection of climate change from river flow observations, climate change impacts on biodiversity, vulnerabilities to climate change across key national sectors and adaptation at local and national scales.
