The MIEC students and staff took part in the recent 33rd Student Culture and Arts Festival of Fuzhou University. The annual festival aims to promote the Chinese culture and foster cultural awareness within Fuzhou University. This was the first year the MIEC was involved in the festival and both students and staff were very successful in their participation.
Overall, the MIEC finished in third place in the festival competition and also won the award for excellent organisation. MIEC Student Affairs Coordinator, Ms. Liu Xinyi (Cindy), won the instructor award.
The MIEC students won 6 awards across the festival’s 9 categories. The categories involved in the festival competitions were as follows: dubbing, a singing group, Vlogging, photography, painting, calligraphy and seal carving, anchor, design and creation of micro-movies. There was a tie for 2nd place in the Micro-Movie category, with both sets of competitors studying in the MIEC. MIEC student Lin Liguo came in 2nd place for his independent production of “One Man” (image 1), while Xue Yifan, Zhang Ruimin, Chen Zhenshuo, Chen Bohan adapted the original comic works of Ding Xiaoyi in their production of “Shu Xiao Er’s Diary” (image 2)

MIEC student Xia Yuan came in 3rd place for his entry in the photography contest with his image entitled “My Hometown - Haiyan”.
