Seminar on Ireland's progress in implementing the Bologna objectives

Friday, May 10, 2019 - 17:00

Maynooth University International Office (Pauline Di Girolamo) attended on the 8th of May a seminar on Ireland's progress in implementing the Bologna objectives*. The seminar, organised by the National University of Ireland (NUI) and the Irish Universities Association (IUA), was held in the ‘Goethe-Institut’ in Dublin.
The different speakers highlighted the positive advances from Ireland in implementing the Bologna principles, Ireland being a model in terms of standardised degree structures and incentives given to the international mobility (with notably the portability of the students grants). The seminar also pointed out different aspects that still need attention such as the foreign language learning, the recognition of prior learning and the funding of higher education.

*The Bologna Process is an intergovernmental cooperation of 48 European countries aiming at facilitating employability, mobility and international attractiveness of the European higher education.
