The International Office was delighted to host its annual Scholarship Luncheon event in Renehan Hall on South Campus recognising the achievements of international students who have received scholarships to study at Maynooth University for the 2019/20 academic year.
The prestigious event, now in its second year, was held on Thursday February 27th and was attended by 34 students from over 15 different countries who are studying across the three Maynooth University faculties in a wide range of disciplines, ranging from Immunology to Geographic Information Systems, Social Science to Strategy & Innovation.
Maynooth University President, Professor Philip Nolan, presented each scholar with a small gift as a token of appreciation on behalf of the university and spoke of his admiration and gratitude to the role our international students play in creating a vibrant and diverse student experience on campus.
Speaking during the event, Director of Internationalisation at Maynooth University Claire Doran, said that “the International Office is committed to developing and promoting scholarship opportunities for high-quality international students, and we have a strong commitment to supporting international students throughout their journey. This starts months before students arrive at MU and continues throughout their time on campus. But we could not do this alone. The International Office works closely with internal colleagues in the Maynooth University academic departments and support services and with external organisations, such as Education in Ireland, the HEA, ICOS and the IUA, amongst others.”
Each year Maynooth University welcomes over 1,300 international students on campus from across the world studying a variety of programmes.
