On Tuesday 30th May Dr Alison Hood, Dean of Teaching and Learning, was delighted to present the awards for the 1st and 2nd place winners of the Critical Skills Poster Symposium.

The Critical Skills Poster Symposium took place between 24th and 28th April in the Library and was attended by almost 600 students over the four days. It was showcase of the Critical Skills students work and the students worked in teams on their Poster presentation.

The winning poster was designed by Robert Brothers, Ciara Dunne, Ian Fitzpatrick and Shane Gough who are pictured here receiving their award. It depicts 'Scholarship as Conversation' one of the concepts outlined by the Association for College and Research Libraries (ACLR) as part of their Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Their poster underlines the key value of scholarly debate and collaboration in facilitating and shaping research and how group work aids students' understanding of academic topics.
