Will my email address change?
Yes your e-mail address will change to: firstname.lastname.year@mumail.ie
When will my email change?
This change is scheduled to be implemented on 19th March 2015
What will happen if someone sends an email to my @nuim.ie address after 19th March 2015?
All emails sent to @nuim.ie will automatically be delivered to your @mumail.ie account.
My email is currently forwarded to my gmail/yahoo accout - will this forward remain when the new email is introduced?
No. There will be a forward in place from @nuim.ie to @mumail.ie but your @mumail will not be forwarded to any other account. Your @mumail.ie is the official source for all communications with the University. If you do not use this account, or if you forward it to another account, you could miss important information.
I had email stored on the old system, do I need to import it to Office365?
No. All email from the old system has been moved to Office365.
Can I use the Office Mobile app on my device and if so, are there limitations?
You can use Office Mobile on iPhones, iPads, Windows and Android phones.
Do you have to do anything to your computer or mobile phone to get ready?
In most cases, yes. Some people will need to take a few steps before their account is moved, and everyone will need to take some steps after. The steps depend on how you access your email and calendar.
Students don't need to do anything until after 19th March 2015
Will Office 365 work for those of us at off-campus locations?
Yes. Office 365 is available to University users anywhere in the world.
You can use most popular web browsers to access your mailbox on webmail.nuim.ie. However due to known issues with some versions of Internet Explorer, it is recommended that you use Firefox or Chrome.
Further advice on using the Outlook Web App for Office 365 can be found here.
To use a mobile app to access your email, calendar and contacts, we recommend that you use OWA for Android, iPhone or iPad. The apps look and feel like signing into your account using a web browser, without having to enter your email address and password each time. The app adds features that you won’t see when signing in through a web browser, such as contact sync, reminders, and new message notification. When you first launch the app, you will be asked to enter your @mumail.ie email address and password, which are then stored on your device.
Go to the Apple App Store or iTunes on your iPhone or iPad and install OWA for iPhone or OWA for iPad.
Go to the Play Store on your Android device and install OWA for Android.
Alternatively, to configure your mobile device to connect to Office 365 using your devices email client, click the link associated with your mobile device below. These Office 365 Microsoft links provide information on configuring your device for either Exchange or IMAP, unless otherwise specified.
NOTE: If you set up your mobile device using IMAP, you will not be able to access the calendar function or contacts in your Office 365 account.
