Highest ever first preference applications for Maynooth University

Maynooth University has experienced its highest ever level of first preference applications, up 5% year on year and growing by 26% over the last five years, with strong growth in STEM subjects, Business and the Humanities.  

CAO application figures released this week show continued strong growth in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects at Maynooth University, with applications for Science Education up 45%, Digital Media up 40% and Computer Science and Software Engineering up 16%.
 
Business subjects and Law continue to grow in popularity at Maynooth, particularly Business & Management (+33%), Law (+29%) and Accounting & Finance (+22%) degrees.
 
Subjects in the Humanities were also strong, with Social Science (+17%), History (+16%) and Arts (+5%) attracting a high level of interest.
 
Commenting on the figures, Professor Philip Nolan, President of Maynooth University said: “We are pleased to see that the popularity of many of our programmes continues to grow. Maynooth University has achieved strong growth over the last five years, which is continued recognition of the world class academic staff and curriculum at the University".
