Dr Adam Behan
Dr Adam Behan has been announced as joint winner of the Music & Letters Trust’s Jack Westrup Prize, which is awarded for the best article in the journal published the previous year. Adam’s winning article is titled ‘Reading Creativity Forwards and Backwards: Process and Product Revisited with Herbert Von Karajan’s Legato Aesthetic and Hypermasculinity’ (Music & Letters, vol. 103/4 (2022)) and uses film footage of Karajan’s 1965 rehearsal with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra of Schumann’s 4th Symphony as case-study material to advocate for a new merging of the values of ethnographic study with those of performance analysis. https://www.mus.cam.ac.uk/news/former-cambridge-phd-student-adam-behan-joint-winner-music-letters-trusts-jack-westrup-prize
