Open Access Week 2018 - 22-26 October

Monday, October 22, 2018 - 09:00 to Friday, October 26, 2018 - 18:30
John Paul II Library

Open Access Week is a global event now entering its tenth year. It is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, share learnings and encourage wider participation in normalising Open Access in scholarship and research.
Open Access Week is an invaluable chance to connect the global momentum towards open sharing.

Maynooth University promotes open access in a number of ways- our institutional repository has been in existence for many years and is currently undergoing a rebrand as well as a change of name to MURAL- Maynooth University Research Archive Library. During Research Week, under the banner of Maynooth Academic Publishing, the open access peer-reviewed Open Journal of Astrophysics was launched and the University has an existing Policy on Open Access to Research. The theme for Research Week earlier this month was Open Science.

The Library is hosting a number of talks during the week on Open Access as well a screening of the movie 'Paywall: The Business of Scholarship'
