This programme is for students who would like to understand various aspects of the business models such as customer related aspects, business processes, resources/infrastructure, and partners, as well as cost structure and revenue stream. Then, the participants will gain knowledge on how a business could realise the benefits form IT and consequently which aspects of the business models needs to be leveraged to make the benefit realisation happens to the business.  Since the relationships with customer is of high importance, number of digital communication methods and channels will be introduced. In the era of digital technology, the only chance to survive in the market is to how to transform our business to a successful digital business. In the last part of this module, the digital transformation process is introduced, and some regional practices and their challenges will be show cased.

Applicants should have a minimum 2.2 grade, honours (level 8) degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent. However, this Certificate is open to experienced professionals who do not hold a primary degree. We are especially keen encourage applications from:

1. Returners: Homemakers or those with other caring duties or economically dependent on a partner or spouse for a minimum period of 9 of the previous 12 months.

2. The unemployed or formerly self-employed (Unemployed applicants will also be required to meet additional DEASP related criteria)

3. People in employment, if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria

This module includes four half days of lecture in the morning and are consist of two sessions at 9:00-10:30 & 11-12:30. The course will be delivered through a mixture of pre-recorded lectures and 'live' online sessions over the week of February 22nd - 25th 2021.

The details for the half-days are as below:

Day 1: In Day 1, the participants will learn about Value Proposition (VP) offered by businesses and value proposition canvas will be used as the learning tool. Then, they will learn about the pivotal role of the value proposition in business models. The Business Model canvas will be introduced briefly, and number of business model examples will be provided. Over the second session the participants will have a class activity to complete the VP canvas and to present the value proposition ideas. 

Day 2: In the Day 2, there will be lecture on fundamental concepts and principles for ‘Benefit Realisation from IT’. In the session one, an international use-case will be introduced to reveal how companies initiate collaborations to benefit from external IT service. The second session of day two is dedicated to a guest lecture on digital transformation of an Irish company, partially in response to COVID-19 challenges.

Day3: In the third day of the module, the participants will learn about the integrated marketing communication method and use of social media to approach business customers. Over this session one use-case (Transport challenges for London Olympics 2012) will be introduced to explain how a specific challenge has been addressed through designed a multi-stakeholders communication strategy.

Day4: In the day 4, the participants will learn about the digital transformation fundamentals and practice. In the second session there will be guest lecture on digital transformation challenges and the ongoing practices to address the challenges will be presented.

Course Duration: 1 semester

This programme will equip the participants with a capability to understand the impact of digital transformation of various aspects of a business, also equip them with the knowledge from ongoing regional practices which could be applicable to their businesses and area. The participant could benefit from their knowledge to analyse the businesses’ structure and provide them consulting services in terms of the required changes in the processes and infrastructure to transform the businesses into a digital business. Also, they could provide recommendations to businesses to leverage their digital communications with their customer through the digital channels such as social medial. Future career options might be business model analytics, value proposition analytics digital transformation analytics, and digital customer relationships analytics.
