Second year field trip to Belfast

Wednesday, May 17, 2017 - 10:30

In April a group of fifty international and second year Sociology students visited Belfast for the weekend. The party visited Belfast City Hall, Parliament Buildings at Stormont and the Titanic and Cathedral quarters. The students were also taken on walking tours of two of the districts most closely associated with the city’s often troubled past and occasionally troubled present – Ardoyne and the Lower Shankill. Organised as part of the Northern Irish Society course, the field trip was organised and accompanied by Dr Colin Coulter, Dr Patricia Kettle, Dr Mary Benson and Professor John O’Brennan. The organisers would like to express their appreciation for the financial support provided by the Department of Sociology and the International Office.
