Moodle is MU’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is an online space where students and staff interact with each other and where you can access course resources, activities and assignments.
There are a range of supports to help you get started with Moodle. You can begin by viewing our introductory Moodle Video Guides, which are available from the Centre for Teaching and Learning website. In addition, the Moodle Help for Students resource page in Moodle includes online video and text guides to support you in using Moodle.
The Moodle Support Helpdesk is also available to answer your queries in relation to Moodle. You can contact the Moodle Support team by emailing [email protected]
Starting a college course can mean getting used to a different style of learning than you have been used to. It can mean being very unsure whether the choices you have made are right for you.
So, whether you need some help with your course, would like tips on academic writing or need to talk to someone about your subjects, we have the supports to get you where you need to be.
The student experience is about taking on new challenges and meeting new people, exploring opportunities for yourself and discovering who you are.
We have a range of supports to help you through your time at Maynooth. You may need these at some point so it’s important to familiarise yourself with them.
- Student Health Service for medical needs, this is an acute service and does not replace your own GP. We ask you to register with the Health Service if you have an existing medical need so that the team are equipped to help you if the need arises.
- Maynooth University has dedicated Student Services that can help you access support if/when you get stuck. The Student Support Team provide 1:1 support and guidance to help you navigate your time at university.
- Student Budgeting Advice Service: offers support and advice with managing your money for University.
- Pastoral Care Advisory: supporting you throughout your time at University. One to one support, facilitating engagement between students, and encouraging community around faith and spirituality.
- Student Advisory: offers practical and friendly advice, guidance, and ongoing support to all students.
- Student Support Officer: personal and practical guidance and support, and offers a safe and welcoming space.: offers personal and practical guidance and support to students and offers a safe and welcoming space.
- Student Support Hub: can provide you with information on the range of supports available in Student Services, and guide you in how to access the supports.
- Maynoothstudentpad.ie: is an online self-service listing of off-campus accommodation. Supports and guidance for carrying out your search can be found on the MaynoothStudentpad Service webpage.
- Counselling (free and confidential) offers one-to-one counselling and support on a wide range of psychological and mental health issues along with a broad range of self-help resources, workshops such as Yoga, Mindfulness and a weekly ‘chew and chat’ where you can meet other students over a cuppa.
- Crèche purpose build on-campus childcare facility catering for the child-care needs of students and staff.
- The Student Helpdesk is the ‘go-to’ area for you if you are unsure of anything at all. The team will help you to find the answers to questions and guide you in finding out what support you might need. There are no silly questions, and the team are really happy to support all of our students, so check out the locations on campus and drop by any time.
- Healthy Campus supporting your holistic wellbeing by providing information, training and resources related to mental health, physical activity, sexual health and healthy eating.
- Other student supports are located in other part of the campus including IT Services, who take care of all the systems (Office365, Moodle, StudentWeb) you’ll be using on and off campus.
- Our Careers and Employability Service are geared to helping students find employment during and after your studies.
- The International Office can help you study abroad if that’s something you want to explore.
