Public Presentation and Discussion: Research - Education - Intervention Collective Memory-Work: The potential for emancipatory learning processes with Robert HammStaff Development Room, John Hume Bld. 5pm

Thursday, February 21, 2019 - 17:00

Collective Memory-Work (CMW)  is a method of critical inquiry developed by feminist activists as a critique of traditional Marxism and alienating social science/s. It has been used for critical research and political education, in fields like sociology, gender studies, education, psychology, health studies. It allows for collectively directed self-organised educational processes amongst all participants involved in a given project. Research becomes education, education becomes research. Robert will provide an introduction to CMW, referring to its historical roots and adaptations across disciplines and geographical borders. In an interactive process we will look at a sample text and talk through the various analytic steps in CMW. We will discuss the potential of CMW in research, for social and political activist groups, and for adult education.
Participation is free, open to everyone, no registration needed.
