Dr. J. O'Brennan wins Jean Monnet grant

Dr. John O Brennan, a Politics lecturer in the Sociology Department and Director of the Centre for the Study of Wider Europe at Maynooth University   has been awarded  funding by the  Jean Monnet Programme of the European Commission to develop a project entitled: National Parliaments and European Integration in the aftermath of the Lisbon Treaty: learning to play the European game?'
A conference on the theme will take place on December 6 and 7, 2013 at the European Parliament Representation in Ireland offices in Dublin. Tapio Raunio and John O Brennan will edit a volume deriving from the conference, which will be a follow up to O’Brennan, J. and Raunio, T., (eds), 2007, National Parliaments within the Enlarged European Union: from ‘Victims’ of Integration to Competitive Actors? John is also co-hosting a conference at UCC on 28-29 November, 2013  with Dr. Mary C. Murphy of UCC, entitled 'Reflections on Four Decades of Irish Membership of the EU'.  Funding for this conference has been secured from the Dept. of An Taoiseach and  from the Jean Monnet programme.
