Over the weekend of 20-21 April, a group of fifty students from Maynooth went on a field trip to Belfast. Friday was spent visiting the City Hall, Stormont and the Titanic Quarter before having dinner in the Sunflower Bar in the city centre. On Saturday, the sun made an all too rare appearance, offering ideal conditions for walking tours of the loyalist Lower Shankill and the the republican Ardoyne district. The tour was organised by Colin Coulter as part of his Northern Irish Society (SO214) course and was supported by the Department of Sociology and the International Office.
