Covid-19 has resulted in a sudden and unprecedented mass-unemployment event, with many of those unemployed living in the rental market. The moratorium on evictions has protected many tenants from immediate evictions during this public health crisis — but this is only a temporary reprieve. As we move from the initial emergency phase, there is a clear risk that many renters will find themselves in arrears and may soon face evictions into homelessness in the absence of targeted policy interventions. This seminar will explore some of the implications of Covid-19 for those in the private rental market and identify the areas where an urgent policy response is required.
This talk will take place via Zoom. Register.
