The MSc Business provides the student with the opportunity to select from the wide range of modules available to our postgraduate students in the School of Business. Choice is dependent on the entry level of the candidate in terms of having prior business education/experience, but there are a wide range of modules available from seven distinct subject areas: Business Analytics, Finance, International Business, Management of Information Systems, General Management, Marketing (including Digital Marketing), and Strategy &Innovation. All students take three core modules plus our Summer Pathway of either a Business Consulting Project, an academic Dissertation or an industry-based placement (full-time mode only).
Candidates should have a minimum 2.2 grade honours (level 8) degree in any discipline. Candidates who do not have a degree in Business will have a restricted set of optional modules.
In exceptional circumstances consideration will be given to candidates who do not hold a primary degree, but who do have at least five years relevant work experience at least three of which must be in a management position. This is done through the Maynooth University Procedure for Non-Standard Entrants and Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning.
International Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.
Minimum English language requirements: please visit Maynooth University International Office website for information about English language tests accepted and required scores. The requirements specified are applicable for both EU and non- EU applicants.
National University of Ireland Maynooth’s TOEFL code is 8850
The MSc in Business offers a way to combine multiple interests in Business in a flexible manner. We offer a core suite of modules and a significant number of optional modules that allow you to tailor your degree to your own interests and your own career aspirations. Modules are delivered over two semesters (September-January & February-May) with the Business Consulting Project/Dissertation/Placement conducted between May and August. The programme will generally be delivered through lectures, presentations, and intensive workshops, generally in blocks of two full days every two weeks, followed by less structured supervision contact over the third (summer) semester for those taking the Project option, which is with a real client. Modules have been chosen to all a significant level of customisation. A key innovation is the opportunity to take one of our “Live” modules, which gives you the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice with a live client on a real business problem.
