National Championship "Best Student Speaker Competion" BESK

On Friday the 15th of March, Colin Mc Andrew, a second year entrepreneurship student won the overall “Best Student Speaker Competion” (BESK) National Championship. Colin’s speech was on the topic of “politeness” and it’s place in modern day society. 
 
He competed against representatives from DCU, Trinity, UCD and an international postgraduate student from Johannesburg. Judges came from wide variety of organisations including Accenture, Ernst & Young and Toastmasters.
 
Upon receiving the award, Colin said, “it was an honour to represent Maynooth University and bring back first place for it”, “I have always had a love for public speaking and Maynooth has always supported me to foster that passion and pursue it”. 
 
The BESK competition was ran and organized by “SpeakEasy”. SpeakEasy is a student led society founded in DCU that aims to empower students with public speaking skills.
