Why would anyone care about reproducibility and open science?

Monday, October 24, 2022 - 18:30 to 20:00
Theatre 2, TSI Building

Speaker: Ed Bennett, Swansea University

For many years, research outputs have been driven by journal publications that are frequently inaccessible without subscriptions. Where software and data have enabled the research, they have been kept locked away from view. Recently this has started to change, with pressure from some research funders, publishers, and communities, for work to be “reproducible” and shared “openly”.  This talk will introduce these topics in more detail, motivate why we should care about them, and touch on some easier ways to move in the direction of increased openness.
