'A Critique of Romanticism from within Romanticism: Schubert and Müller's "Die schöne Müllerin" as Rewriting'.

Xavier Hascher is professor of musicology at the University of Strasbourg, France. He has especially published on Schubert’s music and his essays can be found in some of the recent volumes on the composer such as Schubert’s Late Music: History, Theory, Style (Cambridge: CUP, 2016), Rethinking Schubert (Oxford: OUP, 2016), Drama in the Music of Franz Schubert (Woodbridge: Boydell & Brewer, 2019), The Cambridge Companion to Schubert's ‘Winterreise’ (Cambridge: CUP, forthcoming). He is currently collaborating to the collected edition of Christiaan Huygens’s writings on music and sound (Paris: Hermann, forthcoming).
