The Assisting Living and Learning (ALL) Institute Virtual Conversation, entitled, Beyond Girls in STEM, taking place Tuesday, 15th June 2021.
The virtual conversation is expected to run from 3pm – 5pm. The event will be informal and will have a more conversational tone to reflect how we work with the students, and within the ALL Institute. We have fantastic contributors that have agreed to speak with our host Dr Katriona O’Sullivan, on the topic ‘Beyond Girls in STEM’ giving varying perspectives: Participant, Policy, Professional and Practitioner. After each conversation we will give attendees an opportunity to engage with contributors individually to give an open environment for discussion and engagement between attendees and speakers.
Our contributors include: Tori O’Brien, a young women who went to a DEIS school and who has progressed through programmes like Turn to teaching and is a mentor in our STEM projects, giving her lived experience, Rosin Doherty Director FET Active Inclusion, SOLAS, will talk about the skills agenda and her views for the future of inclusion. Amy Bohan from Accenture Ireland will discuss what the professional world is doing to engage women in STEM, , Niall Winters Professor of Education and Technology at University of Oxford and Fellow of Kellogg College and Kevin Marshall, Head of Education, Microsoft Ireland and Adjunct Professor with the ALL Institute, will talk about his vision for education and STEM. This will be an open space for discussion where we hope to get some ideas on what is next
We would encourage you to share this invite with anyone that might be interested in this event as we welcome everyone to the event and to participate, contribute or just listen to some interesting conversation.
In preparation for this event you might want to watch Katriona’s recent presentation to the EU Gender Action group last month, it sets the stage for this talk and provides an insight into the groups thinking.
Please be advised that the conversation between Dr Katriona O’Sullivan and the contributors will be recorded. If you would like to attend the ALL Virtual Conversation on Tuesday, 28th September 2021, RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org with “ALL Virtual Conversation” in the subject line by midday Monday, 27th September 2021.
