Europe for Citizens Partnership
An international consortium led by Maynooth University colleagues from The Experiential Learning Office and the Department of Adult and Community Education has recently received funding under the Europe for Citizens Programme. The Foundations for Future Europe project will engage citizens from the 5 partner countries in discussions about the future of the European Project, leading to the development of an educational resource park and an open-access journal focused on citizen engagement with European social policy and economic, social, cultural (ESC) rights.

The ALL Institute is pleased to share that Dr. Emma Smith, Postdoctoral Researcher, has been awarded a highly prestigious Marie Sklowdowska Curie Actions Individual Fellowship (approximately EUR185 000 over 2 years) from the European Commission Horizon 2020 program.

Dr Bríd Ní Ghráinne has been awarded funding for her project on the protection of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
Dr Bríd Ní Ghráinne will be recruiting an undergraduate law student to work with her on the project ‘Ulterior Motives: “Protecting” Internally Displaced Persons.’ Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are persons who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of armed conflict, violence, human rights violations or natural or human-made disasters, but who remain within their country. IDPs have similar wants and fears as refugees. They also have similar needs, such as access to shelter, food, medicine, and protection from the effects of armed conflict. However, unlike refugees, IDPs have traditionally been ignored by the international community notwithstanding the fact that IDPs outnumber refugees by about 2:1 (numbering 40 million at the end of 2019).

Majority of teachers report decline in wellbeing due to the Covid-19 pandemic
Maynooth University research has found that seven out of 10 of teachers reported feeling more stress and six out of 10 reported a decline in wellbeing during the first six months of the pandemic. The research also finds teachers favour blended learning and changes to curriculum post pandemic

Maynooth University collaborates with ADAPT SFI Research Centre for AI Driven Digital Content Technology
The Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for AI Driven Digital Content Technology, ADAPT, has been awarded a funding award of €42million to extend its next phase of research over the next six years. Through this new phase finding phase, ADAPT will build on its established leadership in AI driven Digital Content Technology Research.
