Dr Berit Åström is Associate Professor of English Literature and Deputy Head of Department at the Department of Language Studies, Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden. Her research is mainly within the field of kinship studies, with a particular focus on motherhood. Her most recent publication is Single Parents: Representations and Resistance in an International Context (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021). She is currently working on a project on American advice books aimed at single mothers raising sons.
