Prof. Michael Doherty gave evidence before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Employment Affairs and Social Protection recently. The Committee is currently examining the issue of false self-employment in Ireland. His statement to the Committee can be seen here. Prof. Doherty was accompanied to the hearings by visiting Erasmus+ researcher Beatrice Vesario (pictured).
Prof. Doherty has written and commented extensively on the issue of precarious work, including his paper "Trade Unions and the “Gig Economy" (2018).
Prof. Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law, as well as Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
