Prof Michael Doherty has published a new chapter, Posting of workers before Irish courts” in a 2020 ETUI publication. Posting of workers before national courts is edited by Zane Rasnača and Magdalena Bernaciak. Intra-EU employee posting remains a politically and legally contentious matter that continues to feature on the agendas of lawmakers, trade unions and researchers alike. The book offers a comparative analysis of national case law on posting-related matters in 11 EU Member States: Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Latvia, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia. The individual chapters focus on the main debates at the national level and the available case law, with a particular focus on who litigates, in which situations and exactly about what.
Prof Doherty has been working on the issue of posting of workers for many years, and contributed to a number of reports which fed into the reform of the EU posting legislation. Prof Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law, as well as Employment Law to LLB students.
