On September 30th, Margaritis Schinas, European Commission Vice-President for Protecting our European Way of Life delivered the keynote message at the Inspireurope Outreach workshop, held in hybrid format; physically at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and online.
Mr Schinas stated that "defending and supporting academic freedom and scientific solidarity goes at the heart of promoting our European way of life. The current pandemic highlights, more than ever, that international scientific cooperation and solidarity are vital for our global future".
Mr Schinas outlined that "to restore global public health security, we need to bridge talent beyond borders and even more importantly, beyond politics" and that "to unleash the potential of research and benefits of scientific cooperation, academic freedom is also essential".
