Knowledge resources - such as firm’s intellectual capital - are considered to be critical for organisational innovation. But are they equally important in different countries around the globe? This question is explored in a new paper by Dr. Tatiana Andreeva, together with Tatiana Garanina (University of Vaasa, Finland), Josune Saenz, Nekane Aramburu (University of Deusto, Spain) and Aino Kianto (Lappeenranta University of Technology). They propose that two characteristics of country environment – availability of skilled labour in the market and appropriability regime – influence the effectiveness of the firm-level intellectual capital. They found that human and structural capital are more valuable for firm innovativeness in less favourable environments, while relational capital boosts firm innovation in any environment. You can explore these findings in detail in the paper just published in the Journal of Business Research (open access).
