To mark the beginning of the 20th year since the foundation of the Department of Psychology at MU in September, 1999, a research day was held in Renehan Hall on January 30th.  This research symposium showcased the range of exciting research being conduced here, at both postgraduate and post-doctoral level in a series of 5-minute presentations.  The event was opened by MU President Professor Philip Nolan and  keynote addresses were delivered by two eminent adjunct members of staff; Professor Des O’Neill (Tallaght University Hospital and Trinity College Dublin) and Professor John Foxe (Kilian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt Chair in Neuroscience, University of Rochester Medical Center, New York).

A roundtable discussion on careers in Psychology was also held, during which the current President of the Psychological Society of Ireland, Dr. Ian O’Grady, other staff members and Alumni shared experience and advice regarding the sometime circuitous routes that graduates often take into the professional field.
