Academic and sport scholarships are available at Maynooth University. We encourage achievement and where possible, reward that achievement. A number of scholarships are therefore available to incoming and continuing undergraduate students.

Entrance Scholarships
The 2018 Entrance Scholarship is automatically awarded and is available for students who have obtained the following in their Leaving Certificate (calculated from six subjects in one sitting):
Students achieving 550 points or more are awarded €1,000.
For students presenting GCE A Levels the awards are based on achieving points from three/four subjects in GCE A levels.
The award is for one academic year following the student's admission to the University, payable in two instalments – one in November and one in February (subject to the student remaining in good standing with the University). Campus accommodation is not included. There is no need to apply for this scholarship - it is automatically awarded to incoming first year students who meet the requirements.

Michael Osborne Equine Business Scholarships
If you are taking the Equine Business degree programme you may be eligible for one of the Michael Osborne Equine Business Scholarships. These scholarships are automatically awarded and honour the memory of Michael Osborne, and his immense contribution to the Irish and international horse-racing industry. We sponsor these scholarships jointly with Horse Racing Ireland. The scholarship lasts for the duration of your undergraduate studies (three years) as long as you are a full-time registered student and progress successfully at the end of each academic year.
Four scholarships are awarded annually, each to one student from the following categories:
- Students applying to Maynooth University with school leaving exams
- Mature student applicants
- QQI (Further Education) student applicants
- Applicants from a disadvantaged socio-economic background
Music Scholarship
We award one undergraduate music scholarship each year - the scholar is chosen by the Head of the Maynooth University Music Department. This scholarship is for current Music students and is based on their year end results. At present no scholarship is available from the Music Department for prospective Music students.

Intel Women in Technology Scholarship
Through the Women in Technology scholarship program, Intel hopes to increase awareness and encourage a new generation of high-achieving women to take up the challenge of a career in technology. Students from any county in Ireland are eligible to apply. See here for more details.
Undergraduate Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
This scholarship, which is for studies leading to an undergraduate degree, is valued at a maximum of €2,000 for the academic year. The scholarship is open to entrant undergraduate students with a significant disability who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Applicants must be students registering for the first year of a primary degree course in Maynooth University. Subject to satisfactory progress it may be renewed for a further two years.
To apply for the scholarship, students must complete this application form and register with the Disability Office. The impact of your disability will be assessed as part of the needs assessment process when registering with the Disability Office. As part of the process, you may be required to meet with the Student Budgeting Advisor.
The Denham Fellowship
The Denham Fellowship, named after The Hon. Mrs. Justice Susan Denham, Chief Justice, assists two aspiring barristers annually who come from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to gain access to professional legal education at the King’s Inns and professional practice at the Law Library.
The Fellowship, which is being run by The Bar of Ireland in association with The Honorable Society of King’s Inns, endeavours to encourage more diversity in the legal profession. Denham Fellows will be provided with financial, educational and professional support from point of entry to the Barrister-at-Law degree programme at the King’s Inns all the way through their first four years of practice at the Law Library culminating in a five year programme and ultimately in what is hopefully going to be a successful and rewarding career at the Bar.
The significant supports to be provided include:
· Remission of fees to the Barrister-at-Law Degree Programme at the Kings Inns, including the Entrance Examination Fee and repeat assessments;
· Waived Law Library Fees for the first four years of practice at The Bar of Ireland, including the Entrance Fee;
· An annual stipend of €6,000 for a period of minimum 5 years (6 years for part-time students on a pro-rata basis), commencing at the start of the Barrister-at-Law degree programme, to go towards accommodation and living expenses;
· Three mentors to be assigned to each Denham Fellow for the duration of the Fellowship; one from the judiciary; one senior member of The Bar of Ireland; one junior member of The Bar of Ireland;
· Support in locating a Master for each year of devilling.
