Professor Tao will be joining the chair, Professor Pauline Mellon of UCD and President of Irish Mathematical Society, by video link from Los Angeles to record this lecture to help us celebrate Hamilton Day 2020.
In light of William Rowan Hamilton’s work in astronomy, Terry Tao will explain how we can use basic secondary-school level maths, along with indirect measurements, to work out the distances between celestial bodies near and afar.
If you would like to suggest a question to the lecture chair for Professor Tao, please email it to [email protected] by 12:00 on Friday 2 October, along with your name and location.
