Professor Doherty Discusses Luas and Tesco Industrial Dipsutes on RTÉ Radio 1

Professor Michael Doherty appeared on RTÉ Radio 1’s Drivetime show on 25 May 2016 to discuss the industrial disputes at Luas and Tesco Ireland.

Professor Doherty has a long-standing interest in the nature and structure of contemporary employment, including 'non-standard' work, and has carried out extensive research in the construction, retail and transport sectors, in particular. His piece in Work, Employment & Society, on how workers in such sectors experienced their day-to-day working life, 'When the Working Day is Through: The End of Work as Identity?' was short-listed for the Sage Prize for Innovation/Excellence and has been cited in the New York Review of Books.

Professor Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law where he lectures in modules on Employment Law and in Work and Employment in Europe on the LLB programme. He is also an active member of the Political Economy and Work research cluster.
