Maynooth University is delighted to acknowledge the graduation of our first Uversity student, Namrata Desai (USA), who spent a semester at Maynooth University as part of the Uversity Master of Arts in Creative Process.

Uversity is a new concept in higher education that offers international students the opportunity to design their own Master of Arts in Creative Process. Delivered over 12 months, the MA Programme integrates study, creative practice and immersive experiences in Ireland’s academic and creative communities. Throughout the year, Uversity students attend a core module as a group, enrol individually on courses at the partner institutions, spend time interacting with Ireland’s artistic and cultural communities and complete a final creative project.

Additional Uversity graduates include Jovana Radovanovic (Serbia), Lorena Ribeiro (Brazil), Bianca Diaz, Sara Komorowski and Hallie Morrison (USA).  The students attended nine different institutions on the island of Ireland over the 12-month programme. Their modules represented their different areas of focus, including animation, art and design education, art therapy, design entrepreneurship, film-making, poetry, theatre and web design. Uversity showcased their final creative projects at The National Gallery of Ireland in September. Uversity has recently received an additional five year approval for its MA Programme and status as a Recognised College from the National University of Ireland (NUI).

Speaking at the commencement ceremony in Dublin on November 18, NUI Chancellor Maurice Manning said, “The conferring of these first MA graduates marks the successful completion of the first cycle of the imaginative and ambitious project that is Uversity. The programme has broken new ground in Irish higher education in terms of student choice and inter-institutional collaboration. The National University of Ireland is pleased to have been able to support the project through the approval of the programme and the awarding of the degrees.”

Maynooth University is proud to be a partnering institution with Uversity and welcomes future students to study with us.
