The launch will be followed by a seminar - ‘Societal Challenges in Ireland – the next Decade' - on what social science at Maynooth University has contributed to understanding what is happening in Ireland and elsewhere currently - and what it will contribute in the coming years.

A series of short presentations will be given on key societal challenges that social scientists in MUSSI are researching such as, housing, migration, Brexit, Trump, populism, North-South relations, economy, health care, education, sustainability and gender equality.

Speakers from various Departments include: Dr. Mary Murphy (Social Inequalities), Dr. Fergus Ryan (Family Law), Prof Sinéad McGilloway (Mental Health), Prof John O'Brennan (Brexit), Prof Maurice Devlin (Children and Young People), Prof Mary Gilmartin (Migration), Dr. Delma Byrne (Education), Dr. Mark Maguire (Security and Borders) and MU SSI staff
