Dr. Liora Lazarus, Oxford University on “Security, Secrecy, and Truth”.

The Crime and Security Research Group, Maynooth University Social Sciences Institue would like to invite you to a lecture by Dr. Liora Lazarus, Oxford University on “Security, Secrecy, and Truth”. 

The lecture will explore the relationship between State secrecy – a phenomenon required and extended under securitized conditions – and the right to truth as a potential accountability mechanism for retrospective accountability.  The lecture will also examine the role of national security scholars in this context. 
 
This event marks the launch of the Crime and Security Research Group which is a research group affiliated with Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute (MUSSI). The aim of the group is to harness the University's significant interdisciplinary expertise in the fields of crime and security, bringing together experts in criminology, law, psychology, social studies, education, anthropology, geography and conflict studies to address key contemporary challenges in the fields of crime and security. The Crime and Security Research Group would like to thank MUSSI for supporting this event.
