On Thursday, 19 January 2017, Dr Paul Donovan worked with senior Learning and Development Directors on the topic of 70 20 10.
At the meeting, which took place in Spencer Hotel in Dublin, there seemed to be a consensus that the 70 20 10 model has enabled us as a profession to see the development of staff as being much more of a ‘portfolio’ process rather than simply classroom training based. The problem remained, however, as to how such portfolios might be constructed with confidence by Learning and Development staff.
Dr Donovan issued a challenge to members to get involved in research to develop an approach that would create such portfolios. The group agreed on the setting up of an advisory team to work with on the research. The research will involve the development of case studies in the various sectors represented by the companies present using a qualitative approach.
